The Castine Merchants Association presents a five-day event for the town of Castine to be held Friday, July 11th through Tuesday, July 15th. The purpose of "Celebrate Castine" is to thank the community for supporting our businesses.

7:30 pm Big Band Dance Castine Arts Association presents the Ninth Annual Big Band Concert and Dance. Ballroom dancing with the 17 piece dance band "Sentimental Journey" and vocalist Alice French Saturday, July 12, 7:30 to 10 pm Emerson Hall, Court Street, Castine. Tickets will be available in advance or at the door. Light refreshments will be served. Seating is cabaret style. This event is held to benefit the Castine Town Band. 9 - 12 pm Maine Maritime Academy Open House of Navigation and Shiphandling Simulator. Join us for ongoing demonstrations of the college's state-of-the art navigation and shiphandling simulator, hosted by Simulation Specialist, Jim Sanders, at Bath Ironworks Center for Advanced Technology, MMA Upper Campus, access from Pleasant Street, FREE.

9 - 11 am Maine Coast Heritage Trust Tour of Witherle Woods: Maine Coast Heritage Trust steward Douglas McMullin and their forester, Jake Maier will lead a walk-and-talk tour in the Witherle Woods, highlighting the "microburst" storm damage and the salvage and restoration forestry that has gone on since the storm. Meet at the Battle Ave. entrance gate.

Waterfront Tours: Tour the college's working waterfront including the boat maintenance and repair facilities, and our boat slip area. Tours are FREE of charge and will start at 10 am, 11 am, 1 pm, 2 pm, and 3 pm.

Participants will have the chance to blow bubbles to their heart's content.

All Day Golf Tournament: Castine Golf Club. Anyone can play for a $10.00 registration fee. Prizes awarded at the Club House at 5:00 PM. (Hors d'oeuvres and cocktails BYOB.)


7:30 - 9 pm Flash in the Pan Concert: Town Dock. Benefit for Bagaduce Ambulance Corps. Flash in the Pans is a community steel band comprised mostly of adults which has performed summer concerts weekly for the past 18 years. Always a high spirited and festive event.
