The Castine Merchants Association, in cooperation with other town organizations, presents a weekend festival for the town of Castine to be held Friday, July 10th through Sunday, July 12th. The purpose of "Celebrate Castine" is to thank the community for supporting our businesses.

Blind Bogey Golf Tournament:  entry fee for guests $20 (includes a $5 tournament entry fee); members fee is $5 for tournament entry fee.  Format for Blind Bogey: Three holes are selected at random. Players are handicapped based on the number over par for those three holes.  The total over par multiplied by (3) produces the nine hole handicap.

1 pm – 3 pm Castine Canine Capers: sponsored by Castine Woman’s Club and The Breeze. Join us for an afternoon of activity centered around our fabulous, furry, funny, and lovable, canine companions.

Last year's show brought out 41 dogs so pre-registration is strongly encouraged. Registration forms will be available at The Breeze, on the town dock, beginning July 1, or by calling Jeanmarie Reed at 326-4493. Registration on the day of the event will begin at 12:30. Owners will be required to provide name, weight and descriptions of their canine companions, as well as sign a release to participate in the event. The show will begin with a parade of dogs around the Commons. Dogs will be individually introduced and asked to demonstrate any special tricks or talents.

Awards will be given for Best Costume, Best Tail, Best Ears, Best Haircut, Looks Most Like Owner, Most Unique, Most Talented.
